In 2011, Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics study found that chiropractic care with spinal manipulation improved migraine and cervicogenic headaches. Chiropractors understand how tension in the spine can cause problems such as headaches and know what steps that need to be taken to relieve those issues.
So what brings on a headache?
There are multiple causes that can trigger a headache. This includes the food we consume, loud noises, bright lights, and even stress. Though the primary cause is associated with muscle tension. Poor posture during the day can increase joint irritation and fatigue upper neck muscles causing your head to ache.
So what can you do?
-If you are in front of a computer for a long period of time, take a break every 30 minutes to an hour. Allow yourself to stretch and stand up for a little bit to reduce muscle tension
-Drink at least 8 or more glasses of water during the day to help avoid dehydration which can cause headaches
-See your Chiropractor, they can offer adjustments to improve spinal function and alleviate tension in your upper neck muscles
